Makor Disability Services, until recently known as Women´s League Community Residences is proud to announce that Elliot (Avigdor) Brownstein has been named as Executive Director. Makor DS, founded in 1978 by Mrs. Jeanne Warman, is a lifespan service organization meeting the residential, therapeutic, social, medical, developmental, and cultural needs of individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities.

Elliot has spent 40 years at Makor DS /Women´s League in a variety of managerial capacities. He has extensive hands-on experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities for four decades. Elliot served as Program Director and most recently as Associate Director. He directed a cadre of highly skilled managers, supervisors and direct support staff, and prides himself on knowing every service participant and their unique issues and needs. Elliot's knowledge and management abilities have been key reasons why MakorDS /Women´s League has been awarded the prestigious COMPASS agency status. The COMPASS Award was initially bestowed on Makor DS / Women´s League in 2001, and has continued to maintain this coveted distinction. There are over 800 agencies meeting the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities in New York State and Makor DS/Women´s League is among only three to currently hold this distinction.

In addition, Tzally Seewald was recently appointed Associate Director. Tzally earned his M.A. from Columbia University, Teachers College. Before rejoining Makor DS, Tzally was the Director of Operations and COO of Chesed 24/7. Tzally brings with him a vast knowledge of OPWDD resources and other Medicaid funded services.

The Chairman of the Board, Rabbi Burton Jaffa, is confident that with the dynamic leadership of Mr. Brownstein and Mr. Seewald and their experienced and professional team they will continue the 40 year legacy of stellar and innovative care offered by MakorDS to the developmentally and intellectually disabled community.
